
Last month, Chinese ports handled 1.54 billion
tons of goods, a volume that represents a new record for the
month of April and a slight increase of +0.6% over April 2025,
of which 989.8 million tonnes handled by seaports
set a new record for April (+2.6%) and 552.3 million
tons from inland ports (-2.9%). The only traffic with foreign countries,
after 42 months of growth, with a total of 460.7 million
tonnes recorded a slight decrease of -0.4% due to
by the contraction of international traffic handled by the
Inland Port which amounted to 45.2 million tons
(-9.0%), while import-export traffic handled by ports
grew by +0.6% to 415.5 million tons
setting a new record for the month of April.
In April 2026, the largest overall traffic volume is
Ningbo-Zhoushan Port handled with 117.0 million
tons (-2.6%) followed by the ports of Tangshan with 73.2 million tons
tons (+7.5%), Shanghai with 71.6 million tons (+6.3%),
Qingdao with 64.0 million tons (+3.5%), Guangzhou with 58.2 million tons
million tonnes (+0.6%), Rizhao with 54.4 million tonnes
(+2.5%) and Tianjin with 50.7 million tons (-0.2%).
With regard to international traffic alone, last month the
greater volume of this traffic was always handled
from the port of Ningbo-Zhousan with 50.4 million tons (-8.3%)
followed by the ports of Qingdao with 48.2 million tons (+7.7%),
Shanghai with 41.3 million tons (+5.4%), Rizhao with 30.6 million tons
million tonnes (-2.8%), Tianjin with 30.3 million tonnes
tonnes (-1.9%), Tangshan with 29.9 million tonnes (+8.6%)
and Shenzhen with 23.5 million tons (+2.6%).
As for global container traffic, last month the ports
Chinese handled a record volume for the month of April
equal to 30.7 million TEUs (+5.1%), of which 26.9 million TEUs in the
Seaports that set new records for this month
(+4.8%) and 3.8 million TEUs in Inland Ports (+6.7%). The most
large volume of containerized traffic was
handled by the port of Shanghai with over 4.8 million TEUs
(+7.8%) followed by the ports of Ningbo-Zhoushan with 3.7 million TEUs
(+5.7%), Shenzhen with 3.1 million TEUs (+4.4%), Qingdao with 2.9 million TEUs
million TEUs (+6.2%), Guangzhou with 2.4 million TEUs (-0.4%) and
Tianjin with 2.1 million TEUs (+6.5%).
In the first four months of 2026, total freight traffic
in Chinese ports was 5.93 billion tons, with
an increase of +3.1% over the first four months of last year,
of which 3.86 billion tonnes handled by seaports
(+6.0%) and almost 2.1 billion from inland ports (+0.8%). The only
foreign traffic stood at a total of 1.89
billion tonnes (+5.5%), of which 1.70 billion tonnes
passed through seaports (+6.0%) and 188.7 million
through inland ports (+1.9%). In the first four months of

globally to 120.3 million TEUs (+7.2%), of which 106.1 million TEUs
