
Yesterday, on the occasion of the international trade fair on the sector
Posidonia 2026 which ends today in Athens,
The ceremony with which the Korean Naval Registry granted
to the South Korean shipbuilding company HJ Shipbuilding &
Construction Co. (HJSC) the approval in principle of a
project for the construction of a container ship of the
capacity of 10,000 TEUs powered by biofuels, i.e. with
low-carbon fuels obtained by blending
biofuels, such as vegetable or animal oils, with traditional fuels at
fossil fuel base.
After signing a collaboration agreement last year
with the Registry to acquire the necessary technology, HJSC has
conducted research on the application of propulsion systems to
container-holder biofuels of this capacity
currently under construction, and last month completed the
technological development of these devices.

We expect a positive impact on sales and acquisition of
orders in the market for environmentally friendly vessels. Since the
construction of decarbonised ships is essential to reduce
