"In 2025, rail freight traffic in Italy will be
down by about 8% compared to the previous three years. Yet,
Despite the proclamations, the sector continues to receive no enforcement measures
Adequate support: undersized incentives,
definanced even to investments already started, complexity
bureaucratic problems that hinder its implementation". He denounced him
the president of Fermerci, Clemente Carta, recalling that "the
sector is going through a crisis that has been going on since 2022", in
occasion of the fourth edition of "Fermerci Incontra",
The annual event that brings together the members of the Association
and the main institutional decision-makers in the regulatory sector,
was held yesterday at the auditorium of Ferrovie dello Stato
Italians in Rome.
While Fermerci has asked for proportionate and
consistent with the operational needs of freight logistics, in terms of
of the support instruments, the association's request is
that of giving continuity to measures that are currently expiring or
greatly reduced - from the Ferrobonus to the Norma Merci, up to the
national contribution for ERTMS technologies - which Fermerci urges to
extend and refinance together with the swift implementation of the
tools already provided. To this Ferrci adds a
Cross-cutting request on timing: contributions recognized and disbursed
with certainty and speed, because - he explained
The Association - The time to market of the measures has a direct impact
on the liquidity of companies and on the effectiveness of the
incentives.
"The trains of our members - concluded Carta - are
continuing to ensure the logistical continuity of the country in
extremely penalizing conditions. For this reason, from the remodulation
of the PNRR we expect that resources will finally be allocated to
compensation for the damage that operators are suffering precisely because of
effect of the implementation of the Plan. The risk, otherwise, is
that at the end of the work the country will have a more
modern, but with a drastically reduced freight rail sector
downsized, no longer able to support the objectives
industrial, logistical and environmental sectors of Italy and Europe".
