Nel terzo trimestre di quest'anno il traffico merci nel porto di Hong Kong è ammontato a 45 milioni di tonnellate, volume analogo a quello registrato nello stesso periodo del 2000. Gli sbarchi sono stati 27,8 milioni di tonnellate, con un incremento del 2%, mentre gli imbarchi sono stati 17,3 milioni di tonnellate, con una flessione del 3%. Le tabelle statistiche - rese note oggi dall'Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department - mostrano come il traffico di origine marittima sia risultato di 32,8 milioni di tonnellate (-4%), mentre quello fluviale (che include i traffici del Pearl River, di Mirs Bay e di Macao e delle vie d'acqua Guangdong e Guangxi) sia stato pari a 12,3 milioni di tonnellate (+12%).
Nell'ambito degli sbarchi, le importazioni sono diminuite del 2% a causa del calo del 7% delle importazioni di origine marittima, mentre gli sbarchi in transhipment sono aumentati dell'11%. Negli imbarchi, le esportazioni sono diminuite del 12% a causa sia della flessione delle importazioni di origine marittima che di quelle di origine fluviale (-11% e -14%). E' viceversa cresciuto dell'8% il traffico di export in transhipment.
Rispetto al terzo trimestre dello scorso anno sono stati registrati sensibili incrementi delle importazioni di carichi provenienti da Indonesia (+29%), Malaysia (+26%), Cina continentale (+17%) e Tailandia (+12%). Più contenuti invece gli incrementi delle importazioni da Stati Uniti (+4%), Taiwan (+3%) e Australia (+2%). Sono risultate in netta diminuzione le importazioni da Corea del Sud (-22%) e Giappone (-15%).
Nel settore delle esportazioni sono state registrate consistenti diminuzioni dei carichi destinati a Olanda (-22%), Singapore (-20%), Giappone (-14%) e Germania (-10%), e flessioni meno rilevanti per quelli destinati a Regno Unito (-6%), Australia (-4%), Canada (-2%) e Taiwan (-1%).
La movimentazione per voci merceologiche mostra rilevanti incrementi nel settore delle rinfuse secche, con un aumento del 27% del traffico di importazione di pietrame, sabbia e ghiaia ottenuto nonostante la statistica del terzo trimestre 2001 non contenga più le importazioni di alcuni milioni di tonnellate relative all'area di Penny's Bay. Significativi incrementi sono stati registrati anche nel comparto della carta.
Nel terzo trimestre di quest'anno il porto di Hong Kong ha movimentato 4,8 milioni di teu, con una diminuzione del 3% rispetto al corrispondente periodo del 2000. I container pieni sono stati 3,8 milioni di teu (-1%), quelli vuoti 1 milione di teu (-8%). I container pieni di origine marittima sono stati 3 milioni di teu (-5%), quelli pieni di origine fluviale sono ammontati a 800mila teu (+16%). Rispetto al terzo trimestre del 2000 sono cresciuti particolarmente gli sbarchi di container provenienti da Germania (+12%), Cina continentale (+11%), Malaysia (+11%), Corea del Sud (+4%) e Stati Uniti (+3%), mentre sono risultati in calo quelli provenienti da Singapore (-14%), Giappone (-12%), Taiwan (-7%), Indonesia (-1%) e Tailandia (-1%). I più consistenti incrementi di imbarchi sono risultati quelli di carichi containerizzati destinati a Cina continentale (+4%), Stati Uniti (+2%) e Taiwan (+2%), mentre sono diminuiti soprattutto gli imbarchi di container destinati a Olanda (-20%) e Germania (-14%), con flessioni meno consistenti degli imbarchi per Regno Unito (-9%), Giappone (-7%), Australia (-7%), Canada (-7%) e Italia (-2%).
Nel terzo trimestre 2001 hanno scalato ad Hong Kong 9.150 navi oceaniche (-9%), per un totale di 69,7 milioni di tonnellate di stazza netta (+11,5%).
