Il dato è risultato dallo studio "The Contribution of the North American Cruise Industry to the U.S Economy in 2001", realizzato dall'International Council of Cruise Lines (ICCL), l'associazione che rappresenta alcune tra le principali compagnie crocieristiche mondiali.
